The Department of Crop Science and Horticulture at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University is a cornerstone of agricultural education and research in Nigeria. Creation of a Laboratory for Student Research: The department established a well-equipped laboratory for student research, enhancing learning and contributing to knowledge in crop science and horticulture.

Development of a Screen House for Indoor Experiments: A state-of-the-art screen house facilitates controlled environment research, particularly in plant growth and protection.

Approval and Recognition: The National Universities Commission (NUC) approved the department’s establishment in the 2005/2006 academic session, validating its importance in the agricultural academic landscape.

Admission Requirements and Procedures
Undergraduate Admission Requirements:
UTME Entry Requirements:
Credit passes in five WASC/GCE/NECO subjects, including English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, and one other subject (Physics, Geography, Economics, Health Science, or Home Economics).
A minimum JAMB score of 200.

Direct Entry Requirements:

National Diploma, HSC, or NCE with a minimum of lower credit in related areas, in addition to five credits in WASC/GCE/NECO O’ Level (as per UTME requirements).
Postgraduate Admission Requirements:

General Requirements:

A minimum CGPA of 3.0 from a recognized department of Crop Science and Horticulture or related field.
