The Faculty of Agriculture at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam Campus, stands as a premier institution dedicated to agricultural excellence, food security, and sustainable development in Anambra State and beyond. Historical Foundation
The Fculty of Agriculture was established as a response to the pressing need for skilled agricultural professionals capable of transforming Nigeria's agricultural sector from subsistence to commercial viability. Recognizing agriculture as the backbone of Nigeria's economy and a critical pathway to sustainable development, the university administration prioritized the creation of a faculty dedicated to agricultural education, research, and extension services.

At its inception, the faculty laid a strong foundation with core departments addressing fundamental areas of agricultural science and practice. Over the years, the faculty has expanded its academic offerings to encompass the full spectrum of agricultural disciplines, including:
Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension – Addressing agribusiness management, rural development, and agricultural policy

Department of Animal Science and Fisheries – Focusing on livestock production, aquaculture, and animal health
Department of Crop Science and Horticulture – Specializing in crop production, plant breeding, and horticultural practices
